On April 24, 2021, the 16th National Conference on Experimental Mechanics and Major Equipment Experimental and Testing Technology Forum was held in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. Nearly one thousand experts and scholars from the field of experimental mechanics gathered together to exchange the latest progress of experimental mechanics and discuss the development plans of experimental mechanics.

Professor Luo Ying, director of the international joint research center of "health management of key structure of high-end equipment", professor Zhu Jianguo, dean of the research institute, professor Tang Chun, associate researcher Hao Wenfeng and other nearly 20 teachers and students went to Jiaxing to participate in the event. Professor Luo Ying gave an invitation report entitled "SLDV-Based Ultrasonic Guided Wave Structure Damage Imaging", and other teachers and students of the institute also gave some related reports. Graduate student Feng Jianhao's report "Research and Application of Deflection Measurement Method Based on Off-Axis Digital Image" won the prize of Excellent Wall Post at the conference.

During the conference, Professor Zhu Jianguo, as a member of the Party group of the experimental mechanics committee, participated in the Party history learning and educational practice activity of "tracing the red footprints and carrying forward the 'Red Boat Spirit'" held by the Chinese Society of Mechanics in Jiaxing, Zhejiang. The Party members went to the south lake to pay respects to the red ship, and felt the historical significance of the south lake as the cradle of revolution and the Party setting sail from the red ship. Later, Party members went to the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall to see the theme exhibition of carrying forward the "Spirit of the Red Boat". In front of the memorial hall, all the Party members solemnly swore an oath to the Party flag and reviewed their Party membership vows.

The National Conference on Experimental Mechanics held every three years. It is the highest and largest academic event in the field of experimental mechanics in China. This conference is co-sponsored by the Experimental Mechanics Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Mechanics and the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Zhejiang Tsinghua Flexible Electronic Technology Research Institute, Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiaotong University are jointly sponsored, and 25 universities and research institutions participate in the co-organization.
The teachers and students of our academy and the presentation experts had a heated discussion on the current research hotspots of experimental mechanics. The atmosphere of the whole conference was enthusiastic, which left a deep impression on colleagues in the field of experimental mechanics. Participation in National Conference on Experimental Mechanics has expanded the influence of the discipline of mechanics of our university in the whole country, and played a positive role in promoting the development of the discipline of mechanics of our university and keeping up with the international academic frontier of experimental mechanics.
