On Sep.10,our faculty held an opening ceremony for Freshmen of 2013 at 110 reporting hall.Dean Prof. Ying Luo, chairman of faculty affairs committee Prof. Ronggui Liu,deputy dean Prof. Baocang Sun, deputy dean Prof. Jianfei Lu, directors of ourtwo departments, PhD supervisors, and study instructors attended the ceremony.The ceremony was chaired by deputy chairman of faculty affairs committee Hong Zhang.

Firstly,Hong Zhang, on the behalf of our faculty, delivered an opening speech to welcome all the freshmen. Then Prof. Ying Luo delivered a brief introduction about our faculty, including the status of discipline construction, professional characteristics, social service and the development of recent years. He also highlighted the school motto” Far Reaching” and put forward the hope for the freshmen.

And then, directors of the department of civil engineering and the department of mechanics and engineering science elaborated our disciplines and majors in details.Two seniors of our faculty also comprehensively shared their experience from academic planning, activities and university life. Yiheng Wu, a sunshine boy on the behalf of 2013 freshmen, expressed their feeling of love to our faculty and had full confidence of their future.

In the end, Prof. Ronggui Liu made a conclusion and hoped that our students should be grateful, responsible, and willing to devote and learn.

A new semester, a newjourney. May all the fresh students get harvest in their university life.
